I’m excited about the prospect of the new TiVo Series 3 HDTV DVR unit. I’m not, however, excited about the $799 price tag. You can read Engadget’s review here:

As many of you know, I’m an avid TiVo fan and currently own the TiVo Series 2 40 hour box. A few months ago I was considering upgrading to the Dual Tuner TiVo Series 2 box until I read that it really can only record one Digital Cable TV show at a time and the other has to be on the analog input. Well, my wife and I have digital cable and don’t use the analog input so that presented a hurdle for us. It appears that the Series 3 box now provides the ability to record 2 Digital Cable channels at once. Methinks I’ll wait and see what happens with the price by early next year.
