Webarnold.net

I upgraded Webarnold.net this afternoon to WordPress Version 2.1, nicknamed “Ella.”  It was an easy upgrade procedure and probably a good thing for me to have done, seeing as I haven’t backed up the MySQL databases and files for quite some time.  I think I’ll burn this backup off to a CD for archiving.

I’ve noticed some nice improvements in the new version.  One thing I specifically like, is the fact that WordPress no longer tags my new post with the “Uncategorized” category when I start typing.  I always would end up forgetting to uncheck that and only discover it later on while reading through the site.  I’m sure there are other great improvements as well, but as of yet, I haven’t gotten my hands real dirty yet.

Nothing real big to report here for now.  My friend, Mizidy, has recently switched his site over from using WordPress to using Drupal.  I’ve also been looking at Drupal upon his suggestion, not for Webarnold.net, but for another site that I have a hand in maintaining.  Drupal really is intriguing, however, my problem with it currently is that the project is so large and there are so many options and “modules” available for use with it, that so far I’ve not done much but feel overwhelmed with it all.

I know the content has been sparse here of late.  I have no excuses other than that I’ve been lazy and really into Battlefield 2142 recently.  I haven’t had a video game take up so much of my time for many years.  Apologies go out to my wife who has to put up with me playing it while she is working on some heinous Law School assignment.  Love you sweetie!  Anyway, I sincerely hope to step up site activity sometime here in the near future.
